New to Triathlon and need some help in preparing for the season ahead?

This workshop is perfect for beginners who are thinking about training for their first triathlon.  All fitness levels are welcome.  Each discipline will be covered from a educational and practical standpoint.  You will get ample opportunity to ask both triathlete physiotherapists any questions you may have in any area of the sport.  The day will run from 9am until 4pm, with a tasty lunch from the Workshop cafe provided.

Previous workshops on adventure racing at the Life Fit Studio have used this approach of theory followed by practice with success and positive feedback.

For the New-to- Triathlon workshop, we will be teaming up with Karen Mason, an experienced physiotherapist who specialises in swimming and has hosted many swimming specific workshops in the past.  She will lead the mat-based swim workshop.

 

Agenda:

9am – 9:15am: Intro to the days activities.

9:15am – 10am : Discussion and presentation on bike set-up/bike fit, pedal technique tips, posture awareness on the bike, bike safety check and tips on puncture repair, specific cycling exercises.

10:15am – 11:15am : Turbo trainer cycling session at the clinic.  This is to allow you to put into practice the skills learned earlier and get feedback as you do so.

11:15am – 11:30am : Coffee break.  Coffee and tea are going for free at the clinic. i’m sure there will be a few sweet treats lying about too. We’re proud of our cosy coffee corner to encourage mingling of patients and participants alike!

11:30am – 12:15pm : Talk and demo on running gait analysis, running injury prevention and the importance of strength and conditioning for triathletes.  Any willing member of the audience can put themselves forward for a running gait analysis demo.

12:15pm – 1:15pm: Group run.  This is once more to allow the opportunity to practice what we preached during the talk. We will be staying together as a group for the 5km run/jog.

1:15pm – 1:45pm : Lunch at the Life Fit Studio, courtesy of the Workshop cafe! Soup and sandwich included in the workshop fee.

1:45pm – 3:45pm : Floor based practical swim workshop

3:45pm – 4:15pm : Refreshments with Q&A on all things triathlon, including the infamous “Transition”!

>4:15pm: Good-byes and good-lucks.

The Life Fit Studio is located behind the airport very close to the Workshop cafe.  Look us up on google maps, and don’t worry about parking. Loads available.
